Evolution Vs Creationisim?

Filed in Category Creationism

Question Posed – ok so in biology we learned about darwins theory of evolution and we saw the skeletons like basilisarous and stuff like that and I’m like this makes sense…natural selection makes sense and evolution makes sense. There is proof and like there is the theory of gravity and I bet at first it wasn’t accepted either so like what’s a person to do. Like how to we know that God didn’t make hippos that don’t look like the ones we have today and then they evolved into whales and our hippos we have today. How are you supposed to know. Like seriously there is proof and now i’m just confused because it doesn’t make sense that God would do all the things he is doing to us now like making people starve and giving us uncurable diseases and stuff like that? GEEZ i’m just confused?!?

The world is confusing…that is why people created creationism: to make a simple explanation for the complex world we live in. In reality, the world it so complex we are just beginning to understand how it works. Copernicus realized that the earth revolved around the sun in the 1500’s, Newton discovered gravity in the 1600’s, and the earth has existed for 4.5 billion years (humans for 1.5 million). Each of these discovers has shattered religious beliefs because they rely on hard science and experimental data. Religion is just a way to simplify our complex world. With time this will become more and more clear to humans.

Evolution is a “THEORY” It proposes things based on facts. It is tested. When new facts are discovered, the theory is strengthened, changed or discarded. Modern DNA evidence has strengthed Darwin’s theory immeasureably. If we didn’t evolve from apes, our DNA would be much more different.
Creationism is a “MYTH”. It proposed things based on faith. When new facts are discovered, the myth never changes. Facts are discarded if they disagree with the myth.

    Well I’m a Christian
and i believe God has a plan for everything, and he does everything for a reason
maybe he created this whole evolution thing to just trip people up, or because he wanted to

The first thing to watch out for is this “either-or” idea that you put in your title: “Evolution VS Creationism.”
Don’t think of it as an either-or question.
Evolution is a very narrow concept in science. It is only about how life *changes*. Period. All the evidence stems from that. All its conclusions lead to that. Change. And big Time can lead to big Change.
Creationism, fundamentally, is the notion that life and the universe has a Creator. However, what we now call “Creationists” are religious fundamentalists who have hijacked the concept of Creation. Instead of just acknowledging, as a matter of faith, that life and the universe were created by a Creator … they insist that life was created *IN ITS CURRENT FORM* by the Creator. I.e. they deny that life may have *changed* into its current form.
There is nothing *FUNDAMENTALLY* in science, or in evolution, that denies the existence or actions of a Creator. Science merely reveals that if such a Creator exists, then either:
    (a) The Creator used evolution (change) as His method for creating all modern life forms; or
    (b) The Creator tried to deceive us with false evidence, that these organisms changed from earlier life forms.
As Ken Miller (biologist and faithful Catholic) says … “I believe in a Creator, just not in a *deceptive* one.”
So don’t get too confused, by trying to read more into evolution than what it is. It cannot answer your question about why God would let people starve or suffer of incurable diseases. Those are *completely* separate questions that you should not be dealing with in a science class. Keep them separate, and you will not get confused.
