Although Atheists constantly accuse those who believe in God as “stupid, ignorant, brainwashed etc. I have not found that a persons IQ really has anything to do with it.
I think that perhaps some people have a more spiritual bent than do others….and they are more likely to be open to God’s call when it comes. I consider myself among those lucky people. As to the UFO’s or ghosts….my Creator has not given me any word regarding those things so I can not say.

    Dear doomsday,
No, I do not believe so. Johanne Kepler was a Christian. Louis Pasteur was a Christian. Eric Little was a Christian.

I’m not sure about mere belief, but an increase in God’s light surely means an increase in intelligence.

    MAN! You stole my question!
I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Yes, the smarter they are the more likely they are to acknowledge an original source and other life in the universe.

It all depends on what you label them. There are those with extremely high IQs that believe in, say, UFOs. However, they base their findings on government documentation and have concluded that they are inter-dimensional phenomena. To ignore the evidence would be unscientific. To label them as UFOs or Ghosts would be trying to discredit. If you think that all there is to our existence is the present 5 dimensions, you are only fooling yourself.

    No.
It depends upon the amount of social conditioning received during childhood, and whether any alternatives were presented.
If someone is indoctrinated early enough, and well enough, they will ‘believe’ until their dying day.

I don’t know if any studies have been done, but there have been plenty of geniuses who believed in God. For example, Isaac Newton used various mathematical calculations and passages from the Bible to determine when Armageddon would take place. (If I remember correctly, I think he said it would be in the 2060s.) Also, if I’m not mistaken, I think that either Plato or Aristotle claimed to live in a haunted house.

:-) Entertaining thought. Though I suspect the relationship is probably more due to education level & a tendency to believe in imaginary things.

    Sometimes I wonder.
But I don’t think you can blame someone who has been brainwashed.
I feel sorry for them being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Probably not since IQ is often based upon concrete things rather than the abract (things not seen/known etc).

no actually. a lot of famous scientists know that there is a god. they realize that this universe could not have been simply created by a big boom and that we are just accidents.
ufo’s and ghosts however.. im not too sure about them.

yes, history has shown that the dumber you are, the more susceptible you are to cultism
and, it’s the easy way out for dumb people, not to think, and instead, say “god did it” as their answer to everything they don’t understand.

    Not really.
I think it is a factor of other mental influences, but not IQ.
Many Creationists are quite bright. They have to be to work up such intricate theories against such odds.
I think it’s more of a a measure of desperation for hope and order in life than it is of intelligence.

No, but your insinuation is as *ugly* as the worst theists’ questions here on R&S – trying to make atheists look bad?
    It’s I N D O C T R I N A T I O N – huge swaths of humanity don’t vary by intelligence, of course.

Studies have shown the higher your IQ the less likely you are to be religious.http://w-uh.com/posts/031226a-religion_v…http://hypnosis.home.netcom.com/iq_vs_re…http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-thinking…http://www.gnxp.com/MT2/archives/001527.…

No. Is there a relationship between someone’s IQ and their tendency not to believe in God, UFO’s or Ghosts?
