Question Posed – Is your concept of astrology affected by your religious or spiritual beliefs, or do you attempt to base your understanding of astrology on scientific method and concepts?

I attempt to base my understanding of astrology mostly on psychological/sociological concepts and hard grafting to get to the bottom of things and people.
Sadly enough I can’t base my understanding of astrology on physical or astronomical theories, practices or concepts, because I know less about those than I do about astrology – but I definitely force myself to keep up-to-date about them so that in the long run, I can incorporate *that* knowledge in my findings as well…
And I strongly suspect that in the long run, it will turn out to be that astrology is in fact a complex combination of physics (and astronomy), biological factors and psychological factors… but I’m a long long way before reaching it, although I am seriously considering taking up-to-date courses on all the above named scientific fields ^_^
I think I relate both to astrology, but instead if religion for me it’s spirituality. I am not religious because I don’t feel that any of them have gotten it right yet. Plus I think religion stems a lot of hate and unaccpetance in so many ways.

I believe in reincarnation and in a higher power, I relate that to astrology in the way that your chart can show you about past lives and show you the general things that you are supposed to work towards to be a better person and learn the lessons and accomplish the goals you are supposed to in this lifetime. Being spiritual I want to be a good person and to learn my shortcomings and overcome them, learn how to deal with them and I think that astrology can help to show you how.
On the other hand, the way we have gathered the information and observed the patterns is by using scientific methods. I practice and get better at reading charts and understanding astrology by reading more charts and learning about other people. People have been gathering data and compiling it scientifically.
I think you need both to truly understand astrology and all that it can do for you and others. Science can’t explain astrology fully but without it it’s hard to make any sense of it. That’s my opinion.

Religion is a big concept. I think for some, its about worshipping a God and follow whatever its books say….for some its a way of life in the case of buddhism
And Astrology isnt a religion for me, nor it has anything to do with religion.
Astrology for me is spirituality , it is somehow connected to buddhism through its karma teaching and knowing oneself and how to relate to others.
Science for me is a separate field.Science is based on tries and trues , facts and proven method. Science is man made and everything proven has been based on men’s own methods. I sometimes consider science all left-brained and represent aquarius.
In my opinion, Astrology is a level up from Science and is something that men have yet to understand, and not by using some created fomulars to suit everything in its own litte ” logical ” box .And I think pisces represents astrology , all spirituality and enlightment.
Edit : and yes, I believe in my triangle concept , focal point ( where everything comes from – mother spirit, universal spirit ) –> universes —> galaxies —> solar systems —> planets —-> earth ( individuals,people ). And personally I think religion belongs to ” earth ” , the bottom of the ” food chain” or the triangle ,because religion is man-made , no matter how far-fetching it sounds, And science is another man-made subject ( of course no one can deny science, but still it is complete void of spirituality as explained above ). Astrology is of course, the next immediate level and and governed by planets and stars which have rather direct and important influence on us ” earth” level.
And I also think that we, as human beings, individuals, at the bottom of the triangle , still have some inner spirituality…but we are either ignoring it, or trying to analyse them by scientific means that we are gradually losing our spiritual sense, I think this could very well be where sometimes one experiences ” 6th sense ” moment/ability , strong feelings about something…..
Apply the scientific method to astrology’s claims and it fails. Also there is no theory that can be made based on observation.
I think because some people believe that the earth is the center and the solar system was made just for humans. That the sun and planets were “created” to “influence” life on earth, though this should have been discarded when is was discovered that the sun is the center. Since it was created, that supports the intelligent design concept, i.e. a god. In most cultures multiple gods since the gods were planets.
The Hebrews were not believers though. They mocked their Babylonian captors beliefs in the book of Daniel.
I have always approached both objectively, I think. Religion came first in my life because of family. At an early age, I began to rebel against organized religion. I was studying science in school and I love reading anything to do with science or math. I questioned some of the religious teachings, but mostly because I was skeptical and just needed to hear more detailed answers. Astrology came about later. At first, it was simply horoscopes and I thought they seemed a lot like the Sunday School lessons we were expected to accept on face value. One day, a friend loaned me a book on a more detailed study of astrology. I was hooked on studying it from the start, and astrology continues to fascinate me.
So astrology is another subject that I like to study, and so are the many different religions. I will say that I do not believe in any study or religion, but I do know that believe in God. This belief has come through much personal experience.
It doesn’t affect my spiritualism, there’s no real conflict between God or astrology for me and after all he did make everything and astrology isn’t worshipping another god to me, it’s more of an understanding just like science. Also in esoterica and angelology horoscopes and signs are discussed and assigned to angels.
I agree with Leftie. I think a lot of it has to do with intuition. You can’t teach that you know. I am not a super religious person. However, I do believe in higher being. I don’t really try to base my understanding of astrology into my religion. I allow them to coincide, it’s not fair to choose one over the other. My belief system is intertwined. I don’t know if everyone agrees with that or not but that is how I live my life. Hope I’ve helped.
My concept is also based onspiritual astrology. Most of my studies have been with C.C.Zain,the founder of Church of Light. I had to pass Esoteric , Medical astrology as well.
I learnt a lot from reading and some seem to find that odd. How can a mathematician be good in maths evenif doesn’t study the basic ?
Obviously, their is no book on intuition. That came with time and when i believed in my intuition, I realized I had it in me.
Edit….I studied Spiritual astrology. Check the website “The Church of Light” very interesting explanations for the more advanced in astrology.
I am a very spiritual person and I am sure God had create astrology for a reason and this reason is to give us the permission to see a little corner of our destiny and help us in time of great pain ; and no my religion had never interfere with my knowledge about astrology neither in my beliefs in God angels and saints ; for me it had been in Gods plan

both of them has rules and limits, i try not to stop there,were all searching for the same thing, explanations. i look at it as a sort of a mix, not really anything new just my thinking

Scientific methods and concepts. Religion really is sort of built on astrology in my opinion…12 apostles, 12 monthes-12 signs, The Son of God-The Sun sign, 4 elements-4 seasons, the Catholic era was in the era of Pisces which is ruled by Fish & the sign for Catholics is the fish symbol. As Jesus said “when i come there will be a man bearing water” or something like that..(don’t quote me..just from what i remember) and the next age will be Aquarius (the water-bearer)
By the way I learned most of this from books and a movie. And it is just my opinion so no hating!
Personally I can’t say I’m a religious person .But if I was, these beliefs would not interfere with my concept of astrology.I could say that I take a scientific approach to this sciense.But that’s not exactly that close.My understanding would only come from seeing how it works.And if it is valid.
Like Copernicus and Isaac Newton before me, I see astrology and religion as two separate issues. They have been intertwined by cultures throughout history, just as politics and religion have been intertwined. But they are still all separate issues.
Religions don’t agree with astrology that is how small minded they are. A church in Australia is trying to tell people that Oprah is starting a cult, see what I mind about religion, they are scared of going out side of the square.
Neither. For me it is just a handy tool to understand myself and others. A psychological thing-a-majig.

How Astrology came to me?
It’s a sudden known knowledge that banged into my mind all of a sudden.
How is Astrology related to Religion?
Well, Astrology has always been on Earth ever since the day God created his servants.
Astrology is one of the universe’s secrets that is not meant for man to know, in the first place.
But the Giants, also known as Angels of the Higher Orders, came to Earth, -mingled- around with humans and thus created a new hybrid called Nephilims.
These Giants, while they were on Earth, taught man Sorcery, Astrology, Tarot Readings, Cloud Readings etc.
Things that has got to do with the secrets of Nature. Those who knows Astrology without reading about it are gifted in away. It’s like God wants them to know that the secrets are out there and that all these wonders are made by Him.
Science isn’t really the answer to Astrology but the rate of coincidence is high. Thus, Science comes in.
Religion > Astronomy > Astrology.
Mind you that Astrology was made by God himself. Those who oppose to this, who says it’s a lie, conflicts the Bible itself.
The Universe is all about its wonders and Astrology is part of it.
The only reason God didn’t want man to go hardcore on Astrology is because it may lead man astray and that He will be ignored by man into the Devil’s influence.
