Why Do Christians Tell Poor People In Third World That They Will Progress If They Convert To Christianity?

Filed in Category Christian Astronomy

Question Posed – Mark Twain rightly said
The so-called Christian nations are the most enlightened and progressive…but in spite of their religion, not because of it. The Church has opposed every innovation and discovery from the day of Galileo down to our own time, when the use of anesthetic in childbirth was regarded as a sin because it avoided the biblical curse pronounced against Eve. And every step in astronomy and geology ever taken has been opposed by bigotry and superstition. The Greeks surpassed us in artistic culture and in architecture five hundred years before Christian religion was born.”

because they don’y know the reality of the third world.
They need a break with their foreign debt, they don’t need more gods

  2. doug0102 Said:

Because they have “proof” of how all the Christians everywhere else are happy and prosper and have absolutely no problems in their lives.

  3. 4HIM Said:

We don’t. We tell them about Jesus and eternal life through Him. Concerning their progress, w go and help them with food, water, shelter and help them with means to create their own.
P.S. I had anesthesia during all three of my children’s births.

We… Them… Religious People… Want People To Join The Catolic Church

  5. Gyspy Soul Said:

Same reason they did it in the USA with the Indians, to give them diseases and take their land!

  6. B"Quotes Said:

We send missionaries to other countries to spread the gospel of Christ and to help build schools, hospitals, and to teach these people how to do things on their own. We don’t twist arms but to show love the way Jesus loves us.

  7. Kelli Said:

I don’t know of any true Christians who tell poor people that they will “progress”. If they do, they are not truly Christians. They should be spreading the message that they will find peace in the midst of tribulation. And help in time of trouble. But the “Success In Life” preaching is for people who twist the bible. They are in it for the money.

The Christian’s believe that everything is a act of god and that he controls our world and all of us if he does why would he make others suffer while other’s live in Paradise and get paid more money than they need. And in the bible (this really has no relevance but its a good point)it says that Adam and Eve were the first to walk this earth and yet dinosaurs skeletons and other creatures were the first to be here by a long shot and also cave have been proved by science to be the first species of humans to walk this earth. Christan’s believe that the reason for people to be poor is because they have not completely devoted themselves to god as lade out in the Christianity belief but yet millions of people each day who are not Christians work hard and discover ways to become wealthy and successful with out being a Christians or believe everything about god.I actually think that them doing that is pathetic that they have to look down on less fortunate people to make their religion seem right to others and make them think that god can help us with every problem we have and he cant he put us on this earth to help us learn from our mistakes and live through them to become stronger in the end.
I hope this has answered your question

  10. Duders Said:

Technically its true, if they dont convert they wont help them, so converting to crsitianity means that they get help from christians.
ofcourse it is possible to be a good person wtihout believieng in god, no really.

If yo dangle sandwiches in their faces and tell them that they can get in on the food if they listen to their sermon and commit to coming to church etc etc.

  14. snorkelf Said:

    Money.
All religions are businesses. All need as much money as they can get. They all need to control their people by any means possible. Most use superstitions or brainwashing.
BTW, Mark Twain was right on.

  15. god0fgod Said:

Because they are pathetic. Why else?

  16. Aladdin Said:

No, they don’t say that, they say that Jesus will help them live but won’t neccesarily help the whole nation.

  17. heart621 Said:

Because it makes it easier to take over another country resources if you first make them convert to your religion.

  18. Molly Said:

We don’t tell them they will progress if they convert to Christianity. We bring them food, clothing, and medications. We help them dig wells and plant food for themselves. We go into these countries and HELP them progress. We OFFER them Christianity and if each individual accepts that individual secures their place in God’s heaven.
For all your rantings, what have YOU done to help these people in the third world nations?

  19. Beautiful islam Said:

no relation in between most of the third world countries having muslim beliefs and them not progressing…

  20. darkfair Said:

maybe because they are egotistical and close minded people who think that their religion is superior to all others when they should be more worried on how they can help others and not assume that they are doing better on the sole reason that they are christians. but don’t get me wrong not all christians are the same.

  21. jonnyAth Said:

I hate to put the christians down, but it’s partly their fault that Africa’s suffering so badly with AIDS.
Admittedly it’s predominantly the Catholics, with their anti-prophylactic stance, that are killing the people of Africa, but they already have those people under their control.
I agree with you on the Mark Twain quote too, there was a man before his time!
I think if Christians really want to help, they should take action to help the people through action, not conversion.
This isn’t some stupid game where the more people you have, the better you’re doing.
Christians, please remember, you’re meant to do good, not recruit an army!

  22. Fizzy Whig Said:

Excuse me, who feeds most of these countries?
    Answer: Christians
Why don’t the rich Muslims feed them and help them straighten their faith in Islam?
Answer: Too busy building islands off the coast of Saudi, killing each other, and planning terrorist attacks.
Christians are doing God’s work, helping the poor.

  25. keltillo Said:

Christians will tell anyone anything to get them to convert. It doesn’t have to make sense or even be true, Christians will say it to convert others.

  26. Josh Said:

Maybe to make them become christian?

  27. The entrepreneur Said:

because the third world brought them there they themself did that to themselve by going through the way of the world

  28. victoria r Said:

They’re playing on their weaknesses and vulnerability to get them to convert to christianity.

  29. Pseudony Said:

It’s just their beliefs… lots of christians make up things for money and sometimes for fame. alot of it isn’t true. (readers of this message, don’t flame me because of your beliefs.)

  30. Justin C Said:

I would never tell anyone in a third world that they would progress by converting… your faith has nothing to do with your economy and the multitude of things that may be considered “progression” for a government…
Christians have done some stupid things, I agree. But it is in coincidence that they are Christian, because Christians certainly do not have the market cornered. Mankind does stupid things, regardless of who they have or have not pledged their soul to.

  31. Vintage Glamour Said:

They think false hope will help to give these people something to live for. But will it feed them, put clothes on their backs, shelter over the heads or supply medicine for the sick? No, Only real tangible human help can do that.
