Why Do People Say Things Like The Following When They Know It To Be Untrue?

Filed in Category Christian Astronomy

Question Posed – I want to give you five reasons to affirm the Bible is the Word of God.
First, I believe the Bible is the Word of God because of its scientific accuracy. The Truth of the Word of God tells us that God “hangeth the earth upon nothing” (Job 26:7). How did Job know that the earth hung in space before the age of modern astronomy and space travel? The Holy Spirit told him. The scientists of Isaiah’s day didn’t know the topography of the earth, but Isaiah said, “It is [God] that sitteth upon the circle of the earth” (Isaiah 40:22). The word for “circle” here means a globe or sphere. How did Isaiah know that God say upon the circle of the earth? By divine inspiration.
It is the Christian church that refused to ackowledge, for centuries that our Earth was positioned in space.

There is not much anyone can do with someone who thinks the bible is scientifically accurate. For just one example, whoever wrote the bible believed the sun revolved around the earth. Joshua stopped the sun in the sky. Clearly, they believed the sun was moving.
The Catholic Church burned people for heresy for saying otherwise. Galileo was brought before the Inquisition and spent the remainder of his life under house arrest for saying what he knew was true–that the earth was not the center of the universe. Funny how the bible missed that simple fact.
Laptop Jesus: Good point, but of course there’s no mention of North and South America in the Bible because the guys who wrote it didn’t know they were there. (One would think god would know if he created them, but that’s just another fact the bible missed.)
Edit: Hey, you don’t have to like what I’m saying, but everything I’ve said is true. Which is more than you can say about the bible.

I have no trouble with your statement. Society went through a dark age of knowledge for 1500 years. Their knowledge did not increase. Science was going strong at and before Christ. The same thing happened in Central America. up to about 400 AD they had concrete structures, market places that looked like a Roman colony, then they moved out of those cities, quit using the markets, let them deteriorate and moved into small grass covered one room shacks. Around 300 AD they were doing brain surgery, or exploration in Peru.

Unfortunately, the Bible is not the word of god, it’s the writing of clever men.
I wish to affirm that I know this is true because Zeus told me so, and he was here way before the god of Abraham.

I agree. The Bible is the Word of God. There’s proof everywhere within the Bible. Sometimes I wonder why people refuse to acknoledge that.

Ok, weird thing tho. WHY did Satan bring Jesus to a “very high mountain” and show him all the kingdoms of the earth while tempting him? This would have included the Shang Dynasty (China), Anastazi (N, America), Mayan Civilization (South America)
Please explain how this is possible since Jesus obviously knew the earth was “round” (ahem)
